Why are generic drugs cheaper?

New Patidar Medical Stores

Last Update a month ago

Generic drug manufacturers do not bear the high costs of developing a new drug, which can take years and cost hundreds of millions of dollars. Brand-name drug companies invest heavily in research, development, and advertising, which is why they receive exclusive patent rights for a set period to recover their investment.

Once the patent expires, generic manufacturers can produce the same medication without these expenses. They only need to prove that their version is equally safe and effective. This cost advantage allows generic drugs to be significantly more affordable.
